Lathe Operator

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate stripping lathes to produce rubber-covered rollers according to specific instructions
• Read and interpret job ticket instructions, roll drawings, and blueprints
• Use various measurement devices including dial indicators, calipers, micrometers, pie tapes, and rulers to ensure precision
• Install and remove special fixtures, expanding mandrels, plugs, and other necessary tools
• Safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes using slings and straps to move rolls
• Maintain personal equipment, including all required PPE and hearing protection
• Notify supervisors regarding department supply needs, such as stripping tools

Requirements

• Proven experience in lathe operation
• Proficiency with precision measurement devices (micrometers, calipers, etc.)
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• Experience with forklift operation
• Experience with overhead crane operation and rigging (slings and straps)
