Lathe Grinder

Responsibilities

• Operate lathe grinding equipment to produce rubber covered rollers according to technical specifications and production schedules
• Read and interpret production schedules, job router cards, blueprints, and non-conformance reports
• Locate and retrieve rolls using overhead cranes and various materials handling equipment
• Prepare rolls for installation by trimming rubber and cleaning steel surfaces using hand or mechanical tools
• Set grinding equipment, including installing grinding wheels, attachments, live-centers, chucks, and extensions
• Align rollers to meet dimensional requirements, including adjustments for taper, TIR, and surface finish
• Measure all required dimensions using specialized inspection and measurement equipment
• Complete all necessary paperwork, including inspection reports and operator sign-offs
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring equipment is well-maintained

Requirements

• Ability to read mechanical blueprints and interpret technical documents
• Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and understanding)
• Ability to use precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and profilometers
• Strong basic mathematical skills, including accurate addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
• Experience in a manufacturing environment
