Laser Scientist

Responsibilities

• Perform laser modeling design and simulation for high energy, high-average power laser systems
• Assess different architectural options in partnership with industry and national laboratories
• Oversee a team driving the design, installation, commissioning and optimization of laser systems and test facilities
• Interface with engineering and optical testing teams to ensure timely delivery of complex systems

Requirements

• PhD plus 5-years’ experience in laser physics or a relevant field
• Experience with laser system design using simulation codes such as Miro or Rsoft
• Knowledge of laser energetics models and Frantz-Nodvik
• Experience with analysis of non-linear optical systems (SNLO or equivalent)
• Experience modeling and operating diode-pumped solid-state laser systems and components
