Laser Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and develop laser systems generating short-duration, high-energy pulses of light
• Develop and test laser components including cavities, mirrors, and amplifiers
• Collaborate with optical, electrical, and mechanical engineers for system integration
• Conduct R&D to explore new technologies for high-energy laser systems
• Oversee manufacturing, installation, and operation of laser systems
• Implement quality control procedures to meet industry and MagLIF requirements
• Perform cost analysis and manage project timelines
• Write technical reports and present design concepts and testing results to stakeholders

Requirements

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in optics, optoelectronics, laser physics, electrical engineering, or photonics
• 2+ years of experience in High Energy Laser design, analysis, and testing
• 2+ years of experience with laser amplification techniques
• 2+ years of experience with laser modeling and simulation software
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Willingness to travel to Montreal occasionally
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed
