Large Shapes Specialist (Casting)

Responsibilities

• Operate hand-controlled mechanisms to pour and regulate the flow of refractory into molds
• Prepare, mix, cast, fire, and finish refractory shapes according to prescribed recipes
• Measure molds to verify dimensional accuracy and quality against drawing specifications
• Perform quality control procedures, including grinding, finishing, and inspecting parts for strength and integrity
• Safely operate industrial equipment including cranes, forklifts, and electric pallet jacks
• Maintain accurate department records and computer transactions

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to read and interpret basic drawings and work orders
• Manual dexterity and precision for using hand-operated and power tools
• Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and ability to use a calculator
• Ability to obtain and maintain industrial equipment certifications (cranes, forklift, etc.)
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally team lift up to 75 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in mixing, casting, firing, or finishing refractory shapes or concrete
