Large Loss Field Adjuster - Residential Property Claims

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage complex personal lines property claims from initial report to final settlement
• Conduct thorough investigations, including site inspections and interviews with relevant parties
• Assess damages and determine coverage based on specific policy terms and wordings
• Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and other experts to gather necessary documentation and evidence
• Negotiate settlements with customers to ensure fair and equitable resolutions
• Maintain detailed and accurate records of all claim activities and provide regular progress updates
• Ensure timely completion of all correspondence, including Critical Path Letters, Proof of Loss, and Reservation of Rights letters
• Manage data accuracy and issue payments to vendors, insureds, and experts
• Identify questionable claims, subrogation opportunities, and risk exposures
• Review case law to determine liability

Requirements

• 7-10 years of large loss adjusting experience
• Proven experience handling complex losses in excess of $250,000
• Strong construction knowledge and digital literacy
• Strong case law knowledge in both civil code and common law provinces
• Thorough knowledge of various property coverage wordings
• Basic accounting skills
• Superior communication, negotiation, and report writing skills
• Ability to travel frequently across Ontario, with a primary focus on the GTA

Preferred Qualifications

• Licenses for New Brunswick, Newfoundland, and PEI (or willingness to obtain them)
