Landfill Maintenance Specialist

Responsibilities

• Maintain landfill grounds through mowing, trimming, and litter removal
• Operate various SWACO equipment and vehicles, including backhoes, street sweepers, and water trucks
• Perform vehicle inspections and complete required DVIR forms
• Direct traffic to ensure proper dumping and vehicle positioning
• Maintain facility cleanliness, including sweeping sidewalks, shoveling snow, and salting walkways
• Assist with basic repairs, fence building, and erosion control measures
• Maintain odor control systems and facility gates
• Support maintenance personnel with tasks such as changing tires and retrieving parts

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid Ohio Driver’s License
• Experience with maintenance activities and light/medium equipment operation
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and perform physical tasks like climbing, stooping, and kneeling
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and handle exposure to noise, dust, and odors
