About the role

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and direct survey work to determine precise locations, elevations, and measurements for construction and land division.
  • Perform survey work under the direction of the Resident Engineer, including establishing primary horizontal and vertical control points.
  • Research previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, and physical records to obtain necessary data.
  • Record all measurements, rod readings, and calculations accurately in field books.
  • Verify the accuracy of survey data and check completed work for conformance to project plans.
  • Coordinate with contractors on work priorities, schedules, and setting out accuracy.
  • Maintain surveying equipment in proper condition and perform frequent calibration checks.
  • Prepare and supervise the preparation of data, charts, plots, maps, and legal descriptions of surveys.
  • Implement all site safety, quality controls, and quality procedures.

Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in surveying.
  • Proficiency in using CAD software and specialized survey software.
  • Hands-on experience with total stations, data collectors, and GPS equipment.
  • Strong analytic capabilities and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle the physical demands of field work and a commitment to safe work practices.
