About the role
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and direct survey work to determine precise locations, elevations, and measurements for construction and land division.
- Perform survey work under the direction of the Resident Engineer, including establishing primary horizontal and vertical control points.
- Research previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, and physical records to obtain necessary data.
- Record all measurements, rod readings, and calculations accurately in field books.
- Verify the accuracy of survey data and check completed work for conformance to project plans.
- Coordinate with contractors on work priorities, schedules, and setting out accuracy.
- Maintain surveying equipment in proper condition and perform frequent calibration checks.
- Prepare and supervise the preparation of data, charts, plots, maps, and legal descriptions of surveys.
- Implement all site safety, quality controls, and quality procedures.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, or an equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in surveying.
- Proficiency in using CAD software and specialized survey software.
- Hands-on experience with total stations, data collectors, and GPS equipment.
- Strong analytic capabilities and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle the physical demands of field work and a commitment to safe work practices.
