Land Consultant

Responsibilities

• Undertake land referencing activities including Land Registry and Property Registration Authority research to identify legal land interests.
• Conduct desktop research, questionnaire analysis, and archival investigations.
• Manage land ownership information using databases and GIS tools.
• Liaise with landowners to negotiate access for environmental surveys and infrastructure development.
• Support the delivery of land acquisition projects, including property valuation and compensation assessment.
• Assist in the application of statutory powers such as CPO, DCO, and TWAO for major infrastructure schemes.
• Contribute to technical project tasks, ensuring delivery is on time, within budget, and to agreed standards.

Requirements

• Degree in geography or a relevant discipline.
• Experience in landowner engagement or working directly with the public.
• Ability to read and use technical maps effectively.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience in data management.
• Ability to manage tasks independently across multiple projects within tight timeframes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of UK statutory consents (e.g., Hybrid Bill, TWAO, DCO, CPO, or Vesting Order).
• Understanding of the Land Referencing or land acquisition process.
• Awareness of infrastructure sectors such as electricity, rail, highway, or renewable energy.
• Knowledge of the rural environment and farming practices.
