Lactation Specialist

Responsibilities

• Provide lactation consultation and breastfeeding support to both inpatients and outpatients
• Assess and manage complex breastfeeding challenges
• Educate mothers and families on feeding techniques and newborn nutrition
• Support NICU and PICU mothers with milk expression and feeding plans
• Collaborate with midwives, nurses, neonatologists, and OB teams to ensure integrated care

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Midwifery, or a related healthcare field
• Valid DOH license or eligibility to obtain one
• Minimum of 2+ years post-qualification experience in Maternity, Postpartum, or NICU settings
• IBCLC certification or completion of at least 95 hours of Lactation Specialist training
• Strong knowledge of evidence-based breastfeeding practices and maternal-newborn care
• Understanding of WHO/UNICEF Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) recommendations
• Excellent communication, counseling, and patient education skills
