Laboratory Technologist I

Responsibilities

• Perform routine histology services including grossing, processing, embedding, cutting, and staining of tissues (both routine and specialized)
• Execute embedding and cutting of paraffin blocks and frozen sections
• Construct tissue microarrays and perform tissue microdissection
• Assist in Tissue Banking operations, including specimen accession, organization, procurement, and annotation
• Prepare laboratory reagents and solutions according to detailed instructions
• Maintain equipment, laboratory records, and manage supply ordering
• Supervise and train less experienced staff as required
• Follow detailed research protocols and interact with research personnel regarding laboratory operations

Requirements

• Master's degree and New York State Clinical Lab Technician/Technologist or Histology Technician License plus 0-3 years of related experience
• OR a BA/BS and New York State Clinical Lab Technician/Technologist or Histology Technician License plus 6 years of related experience
• Proficiency with computer skills

Preferred Qualifications

• 10 or more years of experience in histology laboratory operations
• Previous experience in immunohistochemistry (IHC)
