About the role

Responsibilities

  • Accession, process, and distribute patient samples within the laboratory following quality assurance goals.
  • Perform clerical and administrative tasks including answering phones, scanning documents, and managing inventory.
  • Maintain and operate laboratory instruments, including performing daily maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
  • Prepare reagents and ensure the work area is clean and well-stocked.
  • Operate the dishwasher and autoclave to clean and sterilize laboratory supplies.
  • Enter patient data into laboratory databases, LIS, or PACS systems.
  • Perform analysis of quality control material and document all actions taken.

Requirements

  • High school diploma supplemented with additional coursework in a science discipline.
  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks under high work volumes.
  • Ability to work a night shift, including rotating weekends and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in biology, anatomy, physiology, or a related laboratory field.
  • Prior experience in a histology laboratory.
  • Experience with digital microscopy, whole-slide imaging, or comparable imaging platforms.
  • Proficiency in image acquisition, file management, and annotation.
  • Demonstrated confidence and ability working with computers and specialized software.
