Laboratory Technician

Responsibilities

• Collect and handle patient specimens such as blood, urine, sputum, and tissue samples following proper procedures.
• Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests in areas such as hematology, microbiology, biochemistry, and pathology.
• Calibrate, operate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment, including automated analyzers and centrifuges.
• Ensure accuracy and reliability of test results by following strict quality control procedures and documentation protocols.
• Maintain detailed records of laboratory procedures, tests, and results in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Adhere to safety protocols regarding the handling and disposal of biohazardous materials and infection control.

Requirements

• Educational Qualification: BMLT, DMLT, or an equivalent qualification.
• Proficiency in laboratory techniques including sample collection, preparation, and analysis.
• Knowledge of laboratory instruments such as sphygmomanometers, centrifuges, and automated analyzers.
• Strong understanding of infection control, laboratory safety standards, and healthcare regulations.
• Excellent attention to detail for accurate diagnosis and reporting.
• Good communication skills for interacting with medical staff and patients.
• Physical stamina to work effectively in a busy laboratory environment.
