Laboratory Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform microbiological testing, including enumeration of bacteria, yeast, and mould
• Conduct dairy and cheese analysis, including compositional monitoring
• Carry out chemical and physical testing on customer and internal samples
• Prepare samples, reagents, and microbiological media
• Maintain laboratory SOPs, documentation, and accurate result reporting
• Support technical service projects, phage testing, and customer-related testing
• Ensure compliance with FSMS, quality, safety, and biosecurity requirements
• Manage laboratory housekeeping, equipment calibration, and stock control

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Food Science, or a related science discipline
• 3–4 years of laboratory experience in food microbiology or a related environment
• Strong knowledge of microbiology techniques and laboratory best practices
• Understanding of laboratory quality systems and food safety standards
• High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
• Proficiency in MS Office for documentation and reporting

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to dairy and cheese microbiology
• Experience supporting customer-facing technical service activities
• Familiarity with phage testing and monitoring
