About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform analytical testing and routine measurements with strict adherence to standard operating procedures to ensure product quality.
- Conduct routine tests, sample preparations, and analyses in accordance with established methods.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including performing regular calibrations.
- Record test results, perform routine calculations, and manage data within a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Coordinate chain of custody forms and ensure samples are received in proper containers and temperatures.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Participate in safety meetings, audits, and follow all environmental and safety standards.
- Communicate off-specification results and instrument problems promptly to supervisors and internal customers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree with at least 16 hours of college-level chemistry.
- Two or more years of relevant professional experience.
- Ability to work a rotating 12-hour schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Proficiency with personal computers, including word processing, spreadsheets, and email.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Chemistry.
- Experience in a QC or production laboratory within the petroleum refining or petrochemical industry.
- Familiarity with ASTM laboratory test methods for petroleum analyses.
- Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIMS) and the oil refining process.
