About the role

Responsibilities

  • Support plant metallurgists with metallurgical aspects of thermo-mechanical production processes
  • Assist with technical queries and internal feasibility analysis requests regarding product capability and limitations
  • Support the qualification of new or modified thermo-mechanical processes, steel suppliers, and products
  • Implement Failure Analysis protocols to investigate internal problems or external claims
  • Monitor the performance of thermo-mechanical processes, such as heat treatment reprocessing, by analyzing quality indicators
  • Interpret test results and microstructures, correlating them with material properties and processing history
  • Analyze test results to ensure compliance with specifications, focusing on steels and heat treatment
  • Identify and resolve technical issues related to testing or specimen quality
  • Verify the application of safety standards and comply with all company policies and regulations

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, or a related Engineering field
  • Hands-on experience or academic exposure in metallurgical/materials testing
  • Knowledge of steel heat treatment processes and structure-property relationships
  • Proficiency in metallographic sample preparation and optical microscopy
  • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SEM/EDS analysis
  • Experience interpreting and implementing manufacturing or quality specifications (e.g., ISO 9001, API 5CT)
  • Familiarity with manufacturing heat treatment processes
