About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory patient testing and accurately report results
- Identify patients and label specimens according to protocols
- Collect and process patient specimens using proper identifiers
- Prepare and package specimens for send-out testing
- Maintain compliance with laboratory safety and quality standards
- Run and document laboratory controls
- Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
- Maintain laboratory supply inventory and coordinate restocking
- Support a patient-centered environment through positive communication
Requirements
- Associate degree in Laboratory Science
- Knowledge of hospital laboratory practices and infection control standards
- Current driver’s license with no restrictions
- Flexibility to meet departmental scheduling needs
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Laboratory Medical Technician (LMT/MLT) certification
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or biology
- ASCP Certification or equivalent
- Minimum of 1 year of hospital laboratory experience
- Experience in an Emergency Room (ER) or high-acuity environment
