About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory patient testing and accurately report results
  • Identify patients and label specimens according to departmental protocols
  • Collect and process patient specimens using proper identifiers
  • Prepare and package specimens for send-out testing to reference laboratories
  • Maintain compliance with laboratory safety policies and regulatory requirements
  • Run and document laboratory controls and quality control procedures
  • Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instruments
  • Maintain laboratory supply inventory and coordinate restocking
  • Support a patient-centered environment through positive communication

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Laboratory Science
  • Knowledge of hospital laboratory practices and infection control standards
  • Current driver’s license with no restrictions
  • Flexibility to meet departmental scheduling needs
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Laboratory Medical Technician (LMT/MLT) certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or biology
  • ASCP Certification or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of hospital laboratory experience
  • Experience working in an Emergency Room (ER) or high-acuity healthcare environment
