Laboratory Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform microbiological testing of source and finished product water samples
• Conduct testing of flavoured waters using approved methods
• Interpret and report results using the Laboratory IT system
• Ensure all samples are tested within required timescales
• Calibrate laboratory equipment and support routine maintenance
• Carry out confirmation testing, proficiency testing, and environmental monitoring
• Report out-of-specification results and support quarantine procedures
• Monitor filtration and differential pressures
• Support shelf-life testing, laboratory cleaning, and HPLC testing

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in an FMCG laboratory environment
• A full UK driving licence (essential for travel between The Fells and Blackford)
• Proven experience in microbiological testing of water samples
• Knowledge of Natural Mineral Water regulations, membrane filtration techniques, and HPLC systems
• Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office
• Strong communication skills and the ability to prioritise work in a busy department
• Ability to work a continuous shift pattern (rotating days and nights)
