Responsibilities

• Grow and maintain experimental plants under controlled conditions
• Prepare reagents, buffers, and transformation constructs
• Support Agrobacterium-mediated transformation and molecular biology workflows
• Maintain and propagate tissue culture materials under sterile conditions
• Support biochemical analyses including protein extraction, purification, and SDS–PAGE
• Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and stock management
• Ensure compliance with GMO regulations, SOPs, and biosafety procedures
• Accurately record experimental procedures and data in laboratory notebooks
• Manage inventory of reagents, consumables, and laboratory supplies

Requirements

• BSc in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Genetics, or a related field
• Familiarity with media preparation, sterilization, and autoclaving
• Experience working with plants and microorganisms under sterile conditions
• Understanding of molecular biology workflows (PCR, DNA/RNA extraction, cloning, etc.)
• Awareness of health and safety at work and COSHH legislation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Agrobacterium-mediated transformation
• Experience in plant cell culture and suspension cultures
• Experience in histological preparation and sectioning
• Experience with microscopy (light, fluorescence, confocal)
• Experience working under microaerobic or anaerobic conditions
