Responsibilities

  • Ensure the laboratory is clean, safe, well-organised, and fully operational
  • Support day-to-day lab operations including deliveries, stock replenishment, waste handling, and LN2 support
  • Monitor and manage consumables, reagents, and shared stock levels
  • Maintain accurate inventory and asset records, including equipment location and status
  • Manage laboratory waste streams safely in line with health and safety requirements
  • Adhere to laboratory safety protocols including PPE, COSHH, and SOPs
  • Provide responsive, professional day-to-day support to researchers and the wider lab team
  • Identify recurring operational issues and contribute to practical improvements

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a scientific discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related) or relevant laboratory experience
  • Previous hands-on experience in a laboratory environment
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with scientists and team members
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail regarding cleanliness and safety
  • Physical ability to lift/move supplies and stand for extended periods

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with stock or inventory systems
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations including COSHH and biological waste handling
