Responsibilities
- Ensure the laboratory is clean, safe, well-organised, and fully operational
- Support day-to-day lab operations including deliveries, stock replenishment, waste handling, and LN2 support
- Monitor and manage consumables, reagents, and shared stock levels
- Maintain accurate inventory and asset records, including equipment location and status
- Manage laboratory waste streams safely in line with health and safety requirements
- Adhere to laboratory safety protocols including PPE, COSHH, and SOPs
- Provide responsive, professional day-to-day support to researchers and the wider lab team
- Identify recurring operational issues and contribute to practical improvements
Requirements
- Degree or equivalent qualification in a scientific discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related) or relevant laboratory experience
- Previous hands-on experience in a laboratory environment
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Strong communication skills for interacting with scientists and team members
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail regarding cleanliness and safety
- Physical ability to lift/move supplies and stand for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with stock or inventory systems
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations including COSHH and biological waste handling
