About the role

Responsibilities

  • Assist with student instruction and supervision on rapid prototyping equipment and experimental setups while ensuring safety protocols are followed
  • Operate and perform routine maintenance on fabrication and laboratory equipment, including laser cutters, 3D printers, and electronic instrumentation
  • Support laboratory experiments by setting up equipment and performing basic troubleshooting
  • Assist senior staff in experiment fabrication and circuit design to support the department curriculum
  • Maintain lab inventory, organize supplies, and ensure general lab cleanliness and coordination of material billing
  • Develop proficiency in circuit design and the use of microcontrollers under the guidance of the Senior Laboratory Technician

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of experience in a research environment or a hands-on laboratory/workshop setting
  • Demonstrated experience operating 3D printers, laser cutters, and microcontrollers in an academic or research environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software such as Fusion or SolidWorks
  • Experience teaching or mentoring in STEAM fields
  • Strong desire to master circuit design and electronic systems
