Laboratory Technician

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze soil, water, and sediment samples through weighing, digesting, titrating, or solvent extraction
• Conduct all preparation and analytical procedures in accordance with ALS Quality Work Instructions
• Organize daily tasks to maximize efficiency and meet strict timeframes set by supervisors
• Monitor and highlight anomalies in results or sample behavior
• Maintain high standards of laboratory practice regarding quality of results and health and safety

Requirements

• TAFE or University qualification in a science-related field
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Excellent time management skills in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work public holidays and weekend shifts as required
• A genuine interest in the science industry and a commitment to quality

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a commercial laboratory environment
• Experience in high-throughput settings or multitasking roles (e.g., hospitality)
• Proficiency in coding or programming (VBA, Python, R, SQL)
• Interest or experience in automation, robotics, AI, or digital optimization
