Laboratory Technical Lead – High Complexity Soils

Responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical laboratory operations, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation
• Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for high complexity soils, guiding testing and interpretation
• Oversee laboratory testing programs for soil, aggregates, asphalt, and concrete following ASTM, CSA, AASHTO, and CCIL standards
• Review and validate complex geotechnical data and technical reports
• Maintain QA/QC processes, laboratory certifications, and calibration records
• Mentor junior and intermediate staff to foster technical growth
• Support project delivery through budgeting, reporting, and client coordination
• Ensure strict compliance with health and safety standards

Requirements

• Civil Engineering Technologist Diploma or equivalent
• 8–10+ years of geotechnical laboratory experience
• Extensive expertise in high complexity soils
• Proven leadership experience within a laboratory environment
• Strong knowledge of ASTM, CSA, and AASHTO testing standards
• Experience with CCIL certification and QA/QC systems
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to work in lab environments and lift up to 25 kg
