Laboratory Technical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Provide daily husbandry care and monitoring of laboratory animals to maintain health status
• Perform sanitation tasks including operating cage washing machines and sterilizing surgical instruments
• Maintain accurate animal records, charts, identification cards, and environmental data
• Handle and restrain animals using proper techniques
• Monitor environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity
• For Level 3: Administer medical treatments, including drug injections and understanding medical terminology
• For Level 3: Set up breeding colonies and maintain production records

Requirements

• Experience in animal husbandry, sanitation procedures, or handling laboratory specimens
• Ability to follow strict safety and biological security standards
• Proficiency in record keeping and documentation
• Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift less than 50 pounds
• For Level 2: One year of relevant medical or laboratory experience, an associate's degree in a biological/medical science, or ALAT certification
• For Level 3: Two years of relevant medical or laboratory experience, an associate's degree in a biological/medical science, or ALAT certification
