Laboratory Supervisor - Mineralogy

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff to carry out laboratory testing and analysis according to established methods and QC standards
• Coordinate resources around metallurgical activities to meet client and project manager expectations
• Work with Technologists and Project Managers to develop new laboratory methods
• Schedule department workflow to meet client deadlines and control project budgets
• Monitor and maintain laboratory QC standards and data quality
• Solve day-to-day production and process problems
• Train, motivate, and assess performance of staff
• Plan and initiate procedures for continuous improvement of equipment and processes
• Ensure health and safety compliance and area housekeeping
• Manage maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment

Requirements

• Post-secondary education (three-year diploma) in Chemistry, Metallurgical Engineering Technology, or Environmental Science
• Minimum 7 years of experience in a laboratory setting
• Minimum 1 year of previous supervisory experience, ideally in minerals/metallurgy
• Strong leadership and technical team supervision skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Valid passport for potential international travel
