About the role
Responsibilities
- Act as the facility safety officer for cleanroom operations, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA 318, and SEMI standards.
- Manage chemical hygiene plans, hazardous waste streams, SDS libraries, and chemical inventory tracking.
- Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for cleanroom tools, H5 equipment, gas cabinets, and toxic Gas Monitoring Systems (tGMS).
- Perform daily and weekly inspections of H5 rooms and associated equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Operate and maintain cleanroom process tools, including equipment utilizing high-hazard toxic and flammable gases.
- Develop and maintain PM schedules, qualification procedures, and tool-specific lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols.
- Manage cleanroom chemical inventory, gas deliveries, cylinder changeovers, and vendor maintenance.
- Develop and deliver training programs for personnel regarding cleanroom activities, safety protocols, and equipment use.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, materials science, physics, chemistry, or a closely related field.
- 3–5 years of professional experience in cleanroom process engineering, microfabrication, or a related environment.
- Demonstrated experience with microfabrication processes such as etching (wet/dry), thin film deposition, or lithography.
- Working knowledge of hazardous gas systems, gas cabinets, and toxic gas monitoring systems.
- SCBA trained or medically cleared to complete SCBA training and pass annual respirator fit testing.
- On-call availability for emergency response to gas alarms, tool failures, and safety incidents.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience working with toxic and/or flammable gases in a semiconductor fabrication environment.
- Prior experience developing and maintaining SOPs for complex laboratory or cleanroom equipment.
- Experience coordinating with environmental health and safety (EH&S) or facilities management organizations.
- Experience training and mentoring technical staff or research personnel.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work on elevated platforms, and access confined spaces.
