About the role
Responsibilities
- Maintain laboratories, equipment, and materials in optimal condition to meet safety and regulatory requirements
- Coordinate the preparation, setup, and pack down of practical classes, including reagents, specimens, and consumables
- Monitor inventories and manage the ordering of reagents and minor equipment within budget guidelines
- Induct and train students and laboratory users in safe procedures and good laboratory practice
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for laboratory equipment
- Offer flexible support across campuses, including emergency response and first aid roles
Requirements
- A relevant science degree or equivalent combination of laboratory experience and technical training
- Demonstrated experience in chemistry and/or biology laboratories (e.g., plant, animal, microbiological, or soil science)
- Strong knowledge of EHS, OGTR, biosecurity, and related laboratory regulatory frameworks
- Ability to work effectively in busy, changing environments both autonomously and collaboratively
- Possession of, or willingness to obtain, a Driver's licence, First Aid certification, and a Working with Children Check
