Laboratory Manager

Responsibilities

• Manage all technical and administrative aspects of laboratory operations, including specimen handling and testing processes
• Oversee department quality programs, monitoring metrics such as turnaround times and quality events
• Ensure compliance with all institutional policies, regulatory standards, and accreditation requirements
• Manage personnel functions, including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and staff development
• Oversee capital and operations budgeting, cost accounting, and financial performance to meet organizational goals
• Identify process inefficiencies and implement improvements to minimize waste and increase safety
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote excellent customer service

Requirements

• At least five years of experience in a clinical laboratory
• Minimum of three years of experience at a supervisory level
• Bachelor's degree in biology, medical technology, biochemistry, chemistry, or a related laboratory science
• ASCP certification or eligibility as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Technologist, or Specialist
• Must meet CLIA88 requirements for a technical supervisor
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and laboratory/hospital information systems
• Experience in fiscal management, including budget preparation and financial analysis

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree in a relevant scientific or business field
• Experience with EPIC Beaker Laboratory Information System
