Laboratory Instructor - Biology

Responsibilities

• Teach laboratory sections for courses including Biological Principles and Scientific Reasoning in Biology
• Perform laboratory preparation, including generating handouts, preparing solutions, and maintaining equipment
• Present pre-lab lectures and instruct laboratory sections
• Oversee exploratory student-led research projects and supervise student assistants
• Provide guidance to students regarding data analysis and scientific writing
• Grade pre-lab assignments and laboratory reports
• Manage the collection and disposal of all laboratory waste

Requirements

• BS in a natural science field with an emphasis in Biology
• 1-3 years of experience teaching labs using laboratory equipment and techniques
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to provide instruction with sensitivity to different learning modalities
• Proficiency in data acquisition and analysis using computers

Preferred Qualifications

• MS degree in a relevant biological field
• Experience teaching both field-based and lab-based laboratories
• Familiarity with a broad range of biological topics and experimental design
