Laboratory Coordinator

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up laboratory experiments, ensuring all equipment and materials are functional before classes.
• Maintain accurate inventory of laboratory supplies, chemicals, and equipment, and place orders as needed.
• Ensure all laboratory practices comply with institutional, state, and federal safety regulations and hazardous material disposal protocols.
• Oversee the cleaning, calibration, and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Assist students and faculty with equipment use, safe laboratory practices, and instructional support.
• Train students and teaching assistants on safety protocols and proper experimental procedures.
• Maintain detailed records of laboratory usage, inventory, chemical storage, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Supervise student assistants or work-study students involved in lab preparation and cleanup.
• Teach introductory biology or chemistry labs (requires Master's degree).

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a closely related field.
• Previous experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in an academic environment.
• Proficiency in laboratory management, inventory control, and safety protocols.
• Technical familiarity with standard laboratory equipment and techniques used in biology and chemistry.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with faculty and students.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
• Experience in an academic instructional role.
