About the role
Responsibilities
- Welcome and assist students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors using the Language Lab and its resources.
- Provide technical support for classroom presentations, projectors, displays, speakers, recording equipment, and audio recording booths.
- Support the 3D printing program by assisting users with file preparation (slicing), operating printers, and troubleshooting basic issues.
- Assist with media production equipment, including managing reservations and providing basic support for recording and editing applications.
- Develop and facilitate occasional workshops or demonstrations on topics such as 3D printing, audio recording, or media production.
- Create instructional materials, reference guides, or tutorials to support the effective use of lab resources.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming lab environment, including equipment and workspaces.
- Perform routine operational tasks such as opening/closing procedures and assisting with special projects.
Requirements
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a diverse campus community.
- Interest in educational technology, digital media, languages, makerspaces, or creative technologies.
- Availability for approximately 5-7 hours per week.
- Ability to work morning shifts (starting at 9 am) and evening shifts (until 8 pm).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with audio or video production.
- Experience with 3D printing or digital fabrication.
- Familiarity with Linux or multimedia editing software.
