Laboratory Assistant

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing, specimen collection, and processing
• Accept and review sample integrity, labeling, and documentation
• Assist with laboratory equipment maintenance and space organization
• Participate in Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities
• Provide customer service to providers and patients regarding laboratory inquiries
• Analyze and verify data in the computer system
• Monitor, maintain, and order laboratory supplies
• Maintain MSDS and ensure accreditation compliance

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• CPR Pro or BLS certificate (required at hire or within 3 months)
• Ability to learn laboratory equipment and LIS applications
• Knowledge of clinical processes and medical terminology is helpful
• Strong analytical, written, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to maintain HIPAA and HITECH confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a clinical or laboratory setting
