Laboratory Assistant

Responsibilities

• Verify patient identity and collect blood specimens via venipuncture and capillary collection
• Collect and process urine and other non-blood specimens
• Perform and document CLIA-waived point-of-care testing (COVID-19, Influenza, Strep, Urinalysis, etc.)
• Prepare, package, and ship specimens to outside reference laboratories
• Maintain laboratory inventory, supplies, and equipment
• Clean, disinfect, and organize laboratory workspaces
• Accurately document laboratory activities in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Follow CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA, and infection prevention standards

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy certification
• Experience performing venipuncture
• Experience working in a clinical healthcare setting
• Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills
• Basic computer and EMR proficiency

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous laboratory or ambulatory healthcare experience
• Experience performing CLIA-waived point-of-care testing
• Familiarity with CLIA laboratory regulations and quality control procedures
• Current CPR/BLS certification
