Laboratory Assistant

Responsibilities

• Process client samples in a timely manner to meet turnaround times and holding requirements
• Perform sample preparation, including weighing, filtering, and dispensing
• Manage the archive and disposal of samples
• Prepare glassware, bottles, and other necessary materials
• Operate basic laboratory preparation and support equipment
• Complete basic extractions, digestions, and clean-ups
• Perform data entry, log registry, and review work lists in LIMs
• Assist with the calibration of basic instrumentation and the preparation of standards
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace by washing materials and performing general clean-up
• Adhere to all established safety regulations and ALS health and safety policies

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience working in a fast-paced, production, or preparation environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Strong English communication skills (written and verbal)
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately and meet strict deadlines
• Ability to stand for a full shift and lift up to 30 lbs regularly
• Willingness to work varied shifts, including days, afternoons, graveyards, and weekends

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge from post-secondary science courses
• Basic understanding of laboratory safety protocols
• Previous experience working with chemicals or in a laboratory setting
