About the role
Responsibilities
- Receive, check, label, and log samples while verifying chain of custody and integrity
- Prepare samples using aseptic technique, including dilutions and homogenization
- Prepare, label, and perform quality control on microbiological media, buffers, and reagents
- Perform routine tasks such as plating, inoculations, and colony counting
- Support environmental monitoring through contact plates, settle plates, and air sampling
- Conduct routine checks and upkeep on laboratory equipment including incubators, fridges, pipettes, and autoclaves
- Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with GLP, GMP, and ISO requirements
- Follow all biosafety and chemical safety procedures to maintain a clean and organized workspace
Requirements
- High school diploma required; a degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related field is preferred
- 0–1 year of laboratory experience (academic, co-op, or internship experience is acceptable)
- Basic knowledge of aseptic technique and common microbiology methods
- Familiarity with common lab equipment such as balances, pipettes, incubators, and autoclaves
- Ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 25 lbs
