Laboratory Assistant

Responsibilities

• Perform preparations, extractions, and analysis on soil and water samples
• Generate worklists and retrieve samples from storage
• Conduct sample preparation including screening, grinding, pasting, filtration, extraction, and digestion
• Prepare required reagents, standards, and reference materials
• Operate and maintain simple laboratory equipment such as pipettes, shakers, centrifuges, and pH/EC meters
• Carry out data processing, including calculations, data entry, and archival
• Maintain accurate records and documentation
• Perform general laboratory clean-up, glassware maintenance, and quality control procedures

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Organized and detail-oriented with a strong work ethic
• Excellent computer, written, and verbal communication skills
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs (14 kg) on a regular basis
• Ability to work various shifts including days, afternoons, graveyard, and weekends
• Ability to stand for full shifts and perform repetitive manual tasks

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous laboratory experience is considered an asset
