About the role

Responsibilities

  • Prepare instrument solutions, perform sample dilutions, and prepare instrument run batches for analysis
  • Assist in instrument calibration setup, operations, and routine maintenance on ICP-AES, ICP-MS, and AAS instruments
  • Maintain timely storage and disposal of sample solutions and organize instrument logs, equipment, and reagent records
  • Evaluate data using instrument software and identify/correct QC-related issues to meet ALS standards
  • Prioritize workloads according to daily statistics and turnaround commitments
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with Health and Safety policies

Requirements

  • High school completion or equivalent
  • Ability to work afternoon and night shifts (the facility operates 24/7)
  • Ability to lift up to 45lbs and perform repetitive tasks
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and mechanical skills
  • Good English communication skills (written and verbal) and proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary chemistry courses
  • Minimum of 1-year laboratory experience in analytical chemistry or a related field
