About the role
Responsibilities
- Operate and perform maintenance on AAS, ICP-AES, and ICP-MS instruments
- Conduct routine and non-routine analyses of geological samples
- Identify and correct QC-related problems to ensure data meets ALS standards
- Evaluate data using instrument software and GEMS
- Prepare sample dilutions, instrument operating solutions, and calibration standards
- Use Microsoft Word and Excel to create written reports
- Prioritize workloads according to daily statistics and turnaround commitments
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment following all safety requirements and SOPs
- Maintain and organize inventory of calibration standards, production logs, and equipment records
Requirements
- Recognized Diploma or Degree in Science (Chemistry concentration preferred) or completion of the BC Assayers certification program
- Minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience in analytical chemistry, instrumentation, or a related field
- Proficiency in MS Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong analytical and mechanical skills
- Ability to lift filled 20-litre containers (45 lb)
- Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks
