About the role
Responsibilities
- Manage and mitigate employee grievances by ensuring leadership creates an open forum for resolution.
- Educate plant leadership on union contracts and local/state employment laws to ensure compliance.
- Coach and counsel plant management in developing leadership practices to maintain a positive work environment.
- Propose and monitor labor relations policies, including collective bargaining agreements.
- Oversee the plant labor relations team and implement risk management policies to ensure compliance with safety and employment laws.
- Identify employee value proposition issues affecting turnover and develop improvement actions.
- Maintain a presence on the plant floor to monitor the organizational pulse and employee services.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial/Labor/Law Relations, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in HR labor relations specifically in a supervisory role.
- Proven experience managing or coordinating labor relations teams.
- Expertise in managing HR metrics such as absenteeism, disciplinary actions, and turnover.
- Proficiency in verbal and written English.
- Experience organizing and deploying HR labor relation actions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with employee services vendors (e.g., Cafeteria, Transportation, Medical).
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to deal with ambiguity.
- Expertise in labor relations frameworks and navigating complex organizations.
