Lab Technician

Responsibilities

• Prepare biological specimens for testing in departments such as hematology, urinalysis, serology, chemistry, and parasitology
• Operate high-throughput automated analyzers, microscopes, and other diagnostic equipment
• Execute laboratory tests and review results in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Perform routine and non-routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on laboratory analyzers
• Maintain accurate laboratory logs, including maintenance, environmental, and cleaning records
• Handle and dispose of medical and biohazardous waste following regulatory guidelines
• Prepare biological specimens for shipment to offsite facilities adhering to DOT standards
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace and manage laboratory/office supplies

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1-2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting
• Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and software
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, and stand for extended periods
• Strong attention to detail and excellent data entry skills
• Ability to work a Tuesday-Saturday shift with start times between 2am-4am

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
• Proficient knowledge in Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Endocrinology, Parasitology, and Cytology
• Experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and technology interfaces
