About the role

Responsibilities

  • Manage lab operations including financial tracking, ordering supplies, and inventory maintenance
  • Perform technical research tasks such as bacterial culture, plasmid amplification, and molecular cloning
  • Conduct in vitro mRNA synthesis and routine quality control assays
  • Oversee mouse colony management and related IACUC procedures
  • Maintain accurate records of experiments, reagents, and lab procedures
  • Ensure lab safety and regulatory compliance, including EHS requirements and IRB paperwork
  • Assist with onboarding new lab members and managing general communications

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, biophysics, bioengineering, or a related field
  • Hands-on experience with cloning, bacterial culture, and nucleic acid preparation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated organization, attention to detail, and ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a lab technician or in lab management within an academic research setting
  • Experience with in vitro transcription or mRNA synthesis
  • Experience with rodent colony management
  • Familiarity with university procurement systems
