Lab Technician

Responsibilities

• Operate accelerated weathering machines, convection ovens, and gas fading chambers according to approved test plans and SOPs.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting on laboratory equipment, including replacing lamps, filters, and sensors.
• Manage sample intake, including labeling, logging into tracking systems, and ensuring proper chain-of-custody and traceability.
• Monitor tests during operation, respond to alarms, and record exposure data, deviations, and physical observations.
• Maintain filtration units and water quality systems supporting test equipment.
• Adhere to all EHS requirements regarding UV exposure, high temperatures, and compressed gases.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area following 5S principles.

Requirements

• Technical diploma, vocational training, or equivalent experience in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, or laboratory operations.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience operating or maintaining laboratory or industrial test equipment.
• Proficiency working with mechanical systems, basic electrical components, and instrumentation (temperature, humidity, flow, pressure).
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow strict SOPs and maintain accurate documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience with accelerated weathering equipment (e.g., Xenon Arc, QUV, QSun).
• Familiarity with sample tracking systems and test documentation in regulated environments.
• Understanding of ASTM or ISO standards related to weathering and color fastness.
• Basic calibration knowledge and experience coordinating with OEM technicians.
