Lab Technician

Responsibilities

• Execute material analysis, benchmarking, and failure analysis test requests
• Prepare and modify test samples using cutting, machining, and preparation tools
• Condition samples according to defined test methods and procedures
• Operate laboratory equipment and design/fabricate test fixtures for repeatable results
• Capture, analyze, and document test data in internal lab systems
• Maintain compliance with lab procedures, safety standards, and work instructions
• Collaborate with Engineering and Quality teams to clarify requirements and interpret results
• Support the development and maintenance of internal material property databases

Requirements

• Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience using tools and equipment
• Previous experience in a laboratory or materials testing environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
• Effective communication skills for collaborating across technical teams
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Materials Science, or a related field
• Experience with materials characterization techniques such as MFR, FTIR, DSC, TGA, or DMA
• Experience with cross-sectioning and polishing samples
• Experience supporting product development or manufacturing environments, specifically in molding (plastics & rubbers)
• Basic machining skills including lathe, CNC, or drill press usage
• Experience creating 3D printed fixtures
