Lab Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform qualitative and quantitative testing of process and product attributes to ensure food safety and quality
• Monitor butterfat, total solids, pH, acidity, viscosity, brix, and other chemical/microbiological properties
• Conduct pathogen monitoring, environmental testing, and pre-op swabbing
• Manage hold, release, and rejection of finished goods and raw materials
• Maintain all laboratory records, calibration standards, and third-party testing programs
• Perform sensory evaluations and microbiological testing of finished and in-process products
• Conduct routine inspections of processing areas to ensure compliance with GMPs and sanitation requirements
• Manage laboratory operations, including equipment and supplies maintenance

Requirements

• High School diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in a science field preferred
• Minimum of one year of laboratory experience with microbiology and chemistry
• Experience in a food production environment preferred
• Proficiency in mathematical calculations and technical document interpretation
• Basic computer skills, including MS Office; SAP knowledge preferred
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle chemical substances
• Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts (6pm to 6am)

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field
• Previous experience in food manufacturing or dairy production
• Knowledge of SAP and advanced spreadsheet programs
