Lab Technician

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of materials, equipment, and apparatus for science lessons, demonstrations, and exams
• Maintain science laboratories, preparation rooms, and stockrooms in a clean, safe, and organized manner
• Manage stocks of science materials, chemicals, and equipment, including preparing purchase orders for replenishment
• Ensure safe storage and disposal of materials and dangerous substances in compliance with COSHH regulations
• Conduct regular health and safety checks and risk assessments within the laboratories
• Perform administrative duties to support science teachers and assist with the collection of teaching materials
• Carry out trial investigations and experiments to support teaching staff
• Represent the science department as a member of the Health & Safety Committee

Requirements

• Diploma in Science
• Proven experience working in a laboratory setting
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Ability to work under pressure and use initiative effectively
• Willingness to learn and develop new skills on the job
