Lab Tech Aide I

Responsibilities

• Perform waived and moderate complexity testing on manual, automated, and semi-automated platforms
• Process specimens and perform pre-analytic non-technical test setup according to department policy
• Assist Clinical Lab Scientists, Histology Techs, and Cytotechnologists with daily operations and preventative maintenance
• Operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instrumentation under direction
• Manage laboratory requests, paperwork, and the Laboratory Information System
• Assist with ordering, maintaining, and restocking laboratory supplies
• Support pathology functions including specimen preparation, staining, and slide/block management
• Handle blood component delivery, thawing, and inventory management for transfusion services
• Maintain a clean and disinfected work area in compliance with safety policies and regulations

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or higher degree
• One year of relevant work experience in a laboratory or hospital setting (or an Associate’s degree in a related field)
• Strong fine motor skills
• Proficiency in mathematical and reasoning skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a science-related field
• Experience in an anatomic pathology laboratory
