Lab Operations Manager

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day lab operations, including work authorization and release
• Coordinate installation, maintenance, calibration, and storage of specialist equipment
• Develop work planning and control systems to mitigate job hazards
• Document standard operating procedures, chemical inventories, and safety training
• Manage scientific consumables, chemical inventories, and spare parts
• Oversee technicians, contractors, and lab housekeeping
• Serve as Responsible Safety Officer for lasers, pressure vessels, and chemical processes
• Promote a culture of health, safety, and environmental protection

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, engineering, or technical discipline
• 5+ years of experience in advanced manufacturing, national labs, or similar technical environments
• Experience with Cal-OSHA programs, laser safety (Class 3B/4), and chemical hygiene
• Proficiency in maintenance and lifecycle management of scientific/engineering equipment
• Experience handling precision optics, vacuum systems, and cleanroom infrastructure
• Experience with metrology tools such as SEM and Optical Microscopy
• Proficiency in writing SOPs, managing SDS, and developing Job Hazard Analyses (JHA)
• Ability to work hands-on in an active lab environment using appropriate PPE
