About the role
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day undergraduate laboratory operations for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
- Advise the Department Chair and faculty on laboratory procedures and safety
- Train Teaching Assistants (TAs) and undergraduate students on the proper operation of lab equipment
- Formulate clear operating instructions for the safe use of experimental apparatus and components
- Enforce REHS safety training and maintain safe laboratory practices
- Manage parts and supplies inventory and maintain the security of capital equipment
- Conduct space surveys and equipment audit reports
- Coordinate departmental exhibits for laboratory tours, Rutgers Day, and Engineering Open House
- Work with university planners and estimators to define scopes of work and obtain quotes for lab improvements
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or a related engineering field
- Two years of professional industry experience in electrical or electronic design functions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive)
- Familiarity with modern hardware, electronic instruments, and instructional laboratory software
- Ability to lift heavy computer and electrical engineering equipment
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Two to three years of professional industry experience in electrical/electronic design
- Knowledge of RUMarketplace, Archibus, and RUSurplus Request System
- Experience with electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic/state/network analyzers
- Familiarity with Tektronix and Keysight test software, LaTex, PyTorch, Python, and Matlab
