About the role

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day undergraduate laboratory operations for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
  • Advise the Department Chair and faculty on laboratory procedures and safety
  • Train Teaching Assistants (TAs) and undergraduate students on the proper operation of lab equipment
  • Formulate clear operating instructions for the safe use of experimental apparatus and components
  • Enforce REHS safety training and maintain safe laboratory practices
  • Manage parts and supplies inventory and maintain the security of capital equipment
  • Conduct space surveys and equipment audit reports
  • Coordinate departmental exhibits for laboratory tours, Rutgers Day, and Engineering Open House
  • Work with university planners and estimators to define scopes of work and obtain quotes for lab improvements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or a related engineering field
  • Two years of professional industry experience in electrical or electronic design functions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive)
  • Familiarity with modern hardware, electronic instruments, and instructional laboratory software
  • Ability to lift heavy computer and electrical engineering equipment
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two to three years of professional industry experience in electrical/electronic design
  • Knowledge of RUMarketplace, Archibus, and RUSurplus Request System
  • Experience with electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic/state/network analyzers
  • Familiarity with Tektronix and Keysight test software, LaTex, PyTorch, Python, and Matlab
