Lab Engineer

Responsibilities

• Plan test projects and establish timelines in conjunction with various engineering groups
• Lead the creation of formal test plans, including Designs of Experiments (DOE), work instructions, and safety guidelines
• Design test equipment and data acquisition systems to support testing requirements
• Create, install, and manage data acquisition programs
• Develop piping and instrumentation drawings, as well as electrical and structural schematics
• Collect, manage, and analyze test data to confirm accuracy and disseminate results to internal teams
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with equipment, software, and networks
• Guide lab technicians in performing preventative maintenance, upgrades, and equipment calibrations
• Manage lab safety by ensuring compliance with guidelines and coordinating regular inspections

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent technical field
• 1-5 years of professional experience working with refrigeration or HVAC equipment
• Hands-on experience working in a laboratory environment
• Experience with data acquisition system programming

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency with AutoCAD or other CAD software
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics
• Experience with LabVIEW, MATLAB, or industrial controller programming
• Familiarity with electrical wiring diagrams, refrigeration controllers, and piping diagrams
• EPA Section 608 Certification is a plus
• Ability to travel approximately 5%-10% for field tests and supplier interactions
